ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office confirmed the incident of a fire on a ship near the Yemeni coast and said that 24 Pakistanis and the crew on board the LPG tanker are safe.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the Pakistani Embassy immediately contacted the Yemeni authorities.
After the accident, the Pakistani Embassy kept the families of the crew informed continuously.
On September 17, a fire broke out in an LPG tanker near the Yemeni coast. The affected Apple PG tanker was sent back from the Yemeni port.
The LPG tanker is now moving out of Yemeni waters.
In a statement issued on the incident of attack and fire on an LPG tanker near the Ras al-Issa port in Yemen, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that Alhamdulillah, the Houthis have released the LPG tanker and its crew.
The affected ship and all the crew members, including Pakistanis, are now outside Yemen. The tanker’s 27-member crew included Captain Mukhtar, 24 Pakistanis, 2 Sri Lankans, and 1 Nepali.
The ship caught fire after being targeted by an Israeli drone attack on September 17.

Mohsin Naqvi said that when the crew managed to put out the fire, the Houthi boats stopped the ship and took the crew hostage.
The citizens were released with the efforts of the Pakistani ambassador to Oman, Saudi friends, and security agencies.
