SYDNEY: The Brisbane Heat have added another Pakistani pacer, Zaman Khan, to their squad in the Big Bash League as a replacement for injured Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.
The 24-year-old Zaman Khan has been cleared as an international replacement player for the remaining matches of the KFC Big Bash League.
Zaman Khan will be available for the match against his former team Sydney Thunder at the Gabba on Saturday. He previously represented Sydney Thunder in the 13th season of the Big Bash League, where he took eight wickets in four matches at an average of 16.38.
The Pakistani fast bowler has so far played 10 T20 Internationals and one ODI for Pakistan.
He plays for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League, where they are captained by Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Zaman Khan recently participated in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament where he took a hat-trick in his first match. Apart from this, he has also represented Manchester Originals in the Pakistan Super League, Big Bash League and England’s The Hundred tournament.
Brisbane Heat will play a crucial match against Sydney Sixes in Coffs Harbour today, where a tough competition is expected to secure a place in the top four. Team coach Johan Botha says that the inclusion of Zaman Khan will give the bowling attack more strength and experience.
According to him, Zaman Khan has the ability to take wickets with the new ball and can turn the tide of the match with his pace and different style of balls.
Brisbane Heat team will arrive back in Brisbane tomorrow where they will prepare for the next match against Sydney Thunder at Gabba.
