Singer Faraz booked for performing on ‘Qaidi No 804’ song at event

LAHORE: A case has been registered against singer Faraz Khan for performing a song attributed to Adiala Jail convict 804 during a government-sponsored musical night show.

A music and cultural night was organized by the World City Authority at Shalimar Bagh in which Qawwal Faraz Khan and his duo performed qawwali.

An FIR was registered against Faraz Khan during the program for singing a song attributed to Adiala Jail convict 804.

The case was registered under the supervision of Zameer, in-charge of Shalimar Bagh at Shalimar Police Station and various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code have been included in it.

Faraz Khan said that he performed the song on request, despite which a case has been registered against him.

The program held at Shalimar Bagh was open to the public. The incident has raised questions about the regulations on cultural events and sparked a new debate on freedom of artistic expression.

According to the police, an investigation into the incident has been launched, action is being taken according to the law, and various aspects of the incident are being reviewed.
