WhatsApp users are being warned about a new dangerous cyber fraud called “Ghost Peering”, in which hackers can silently hijack WhatsApp accounts without breaking the security system.

According to the details, hackers take advantage of WhatsApp’s connected devices feature to gain full access to the user’s messages, photos and videos, which makes it possible to completely take over the account.

According to experts, hackers usually send the user a fake link that looks like a well-known website.

If the user goes to this link and enters his mobile number and verification code, he actually links his WhatsApp account to the hacker’s device, and the hacker gains complete control over it. During this time, the user usually does not receive any clear notification.

Precautions to keep WhatsApp account secure

1. Regularly check connected devices: Go to WhatsApp settings to check connected devices and remove unknown devices immediately.

2. Enable two-step verification: Go to WhatsApp settings and enable a six-digit identification code to make unauthorized access difficult.

3. Beware of suspicious links and websites: Do not enter your number or code on any unknown link or website, even if the message comes from someone you know. Call or contact for verification.

Experts say that users should always be cautious, be wary of any verification code or code QR scan request, and regularly use WhatsApp security features such as two-step verification and monitoring of connected devices to stay safe from such cyber attacks and fraud.
