ISLAMABAD: Excitement fills the air as the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has officially announced that the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification match between Pakistan and Jordan will finally take place at Islamabad’s Jinnah Stadium.

After much speculation and uncertainty regarding the venue, fans can now look forward to witnessing the action-packed showdown, with kick-off scheduled for around 2 PM (Pakistan time).

The decision to host the match during daytime comes after PFF faced challenges in arranging night-time fixtures due to the absence of floodlights at the Jinnah Stadium. However, authorities have resolved to hold the match during the day, even amidst the holy month of Ramadan.

While traditionally night-time matches were preferred, both countries being Muslim-majority states, the stakeholders had initially indicated a preference for night-time scheduling. Despite challenges in fulfilling this promise, the decision to proceed with a daytime fixture has been embraced by fans and players alike.

Set to take place on March 21, the World Cup qualification match holds significant importance for Pakistan, who currently trails at the bottom of the group after facing consecutive defeats against Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan.
