ISLAMABAD: The FIFA World Cup draws have been announced, with the 48 teams participating in the tournament divided into 12 groups. The event will be played in the United States, Canada and Mexico next year.
Group ‘A’ will include hosts Mexico, South Africa, South Korea and a qualifier from Play-off D.
Group ‘B’ will include hosts Canada, Qatar, Switzerland and a team from UEFA Play-off A. The fourth team from Group ‘B’ will be either Wales or Northern Ireland.
Group ‘C’ will include Brazil, Morocco, Scotland and Haiti, while Group ‘D’ will include hosts USA, Australia, Paraguay and a qualifier from UEFA Play-off C.
Group ‘E’ will include Germany, Ecuador, Ivory Coast and Curacao, while Group ‘F’ will include the Netherlands, Japan, Tunisia and a team from UEFA Qualifier B.
Group ‘G’ includes Belgium, Iran, Egypt and New Zealand. Group ‘H’ includes Spain, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and Cape Verde.
Group ‘I’ includes France, Senegal, Norway and the FIFA Play-off 2 qualifiers, while Group ‘J’ includes defending champions Argentina, Austria, Algeria and Jordan.
Group ‘K’ includes Portugal, Uzbekistan, Colombia and the team from FIFA Qualifier 1, while Group ‘L’ includes England, Croatia, Panama and Ghana.
The FIFA World Cup draw ceremony was held in the United States, with US President Donald Trump also attending the ceremony.
