“I was once a ball boy” Babar Azam’s emotional statement on becoming champion

LAHORE: Babar Azam’s emotional statement on Peshawar Zalmi becoming a champion has come to light.

Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam thanked Allah in his statement on social media platform X after becoming a champion and said, Alhamdulillah, champions.

Babar Azam said that he is proud of his team and the entire team stood together in every difficult situation. Recalling his struggle, he said, “I was once a ball boy, I used to stand on the boundary and dream.”

Giving a message to the youth, he said that if a ball boy picks up the bat with confidence today, this victory will be meaningful for him because hard work is never wasted.

Babar Azam thanked everyone, calling his success the result of the support of family, Zalmi management and friends.

Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam had said in a press conference that he worked hard to improve his performance and overcame mistakes. He said that close friends, family and coaches provided full support during difficult times, which helped him regain his form.

Babar Azam said that he is happy to be back in form and he will try his best to maintain this continuity. He said that as a captain, he always plans his strategy by looking at the opposing team.

He mentioned former great cricketer Zaheer Abbas and said that whenever he met him during difficult times, he encouraged him.

Babar Azam praised the ground staff and said that they play an important role in preparing good pitches. He also thanked his parents and fans who always supported him.

Talking about the match, he said that the pressure increased after the first four wickets fell, however, Hardy and Abdul Samad batted responsibly and brought the team victory.

He further said that in this PSL, he had decided to play his natural game and achieved success by following the free hand given by the coaches.

Babar Azam said that his focus is on all three formats and every player should be ready for each format.
