DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is considering shifting several major events from India to Australia due to the Indo-Pakistan tension.

According to an Australian media report, the ICC is examining alternative venues to shift the 2029 Champions Trophy and the 2031 ODI World Cup from India.

The report said that if a final decision is made to shift major events from India, they are more likely to be hosted by Australia because Australia has a strong recent track record of hosting major ICC events.

According to the report, this move is being taken due to the agreement between the cricket boards of India and Pakistan, under which it has been decided to hold matches between the two countries at neutral venues in all future major events.

It should be noted that the ICC had announced a hybrid model for the events to be held from 2024 to 2027 due to the ongoing tension between Pakistan and India, but now due to security concerns during the recent T20 World Cup, Bangladesh also refused to go to India to play the World Cup, after which the situation has become more complicated.
