India beat Pakistan 2-1 to remain unbeaten in Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024

HULUNBUIR: Harmanpreet Singh’s two goals earned India a resounding 2-1 victory over Pakistan in the last round-robin match of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy match at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in China on Saturday.

Pakistan started with an early after Ahmad Nadeem breached the goalpost in the 8th minute of the game. Hanan Shahid made a stunning run in the middle and found Ahmad Nadeem inside the circle for an early score.

Later, Men in Blue made a resounding comeback with two goals coming from skipper Harmanpreet. Indian captain made a comeback by scoring a stunner with a penalty corner in the 13th minute.

India takes the lead after Harmanpreet converted a penalty corner with a drag-flick into a decisive goal.

The second half of the game remained goalless confirming India’s strong and comfortable win over arch-rivals Pakistan. Green Shirts made a solid start but lost grip ever since they conceded the first goal.

With today’s victory, India has won every game in the round stage and finished at the top of the points table. However, Both teams have already booked their spot in the semifinals.

Ammad Butt-led team has shown resilience in the Asian Champions Trophy by winning the last two matches against Japan 2-1 and China 5-1 after drawing two early fixtures of the tournament.

Paris Olympics bronze-medallists India, on the other hand, started the tournament as favorites, defeating hosts China 3-0, and Japan 5-1, trouncing Malaysia 8-1 before registering a 3-1 victory against Korea in their last match.
