ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is currently undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is hopeful that Shaheen will be fully fit and able to represent Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
According to PCB sources, Shaheen Afridi’s rehab is ongoing under the supervision of the PCB’s medical panel, where his fitness, knee condition and workload are being regularly assessed.
The medical team is reviewing his recovery on a phased basis so that he can be fully fit while avoiding any possible risks.
It should be noted that Afridi had withdrawn from Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) due to knee pain.
Due to injury, he could not represent his team in the league, after which Pakistani fast bowler Zaman Khan has signed a contract with Brisbane Heat in his place.
On the other hand, PCB officials say that Afridi’s health and fitness are the top priority, and there is no intention to field him without being fully fit.
The board hopes that Shaheen’s timely and complete recovery will prove to be a welcome addition to the national team.
