LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has issued a written order quashing the case filed against former Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam.
During the hearing, the court also accepted the petition filed by Babar Azam, challenging the registration of the case against him.
Cricketer Babar Azam challenged the decision of the Justice of the Peace to register a case against him in his petition.
The Justice of the Peace forwarded the application filed by Hamza Mukhtar to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Babar Azam.
In the petition, the woman said that Babar Azam had lured her and promised to marry her. She further alleged that she had become pregnant at some point.
Later, the court issued an 8-page written order. Barrister Haris Azmat appeared on behalf of Babar Azam in the case.
The judgment said that after hearing the arguments of the parties and reviewing the complete record of the case, the court came to the conclusion that all the allegations made against him are baseless.
The court, after hearing arguments, set aside the Justice of the Peace’s order.
The sexual harassment and blackmail allegations against Babar Azam have officially come to an end following a Lahore High Court ruling. The ruling cleared him of all charges, allowing him to focus fully on cricket without the shadow of legal uncertainty or reputational damage.
For the public and legal observers, the case highlights the importance of due process, credibility and fairness, while for Azam, it marks a return to normalcy, both on and off the field.
