LAHORE: Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans has responded to the legal notice received from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had issued a notice to the franchise Multan Sultans for violating the contract and running a campaign to damage the reputation of the PSL.
According to sources, the franchise was issued a notice for violating the provisions of the 10-year contract.
Sources say that the franchise had started running the campaign even before PSL 10, franchise owner Ali Tareen ran a campaign to damage the reputation of the league in social media interviews and podcasts.
The PCB’s notice demanded the withdrawal of Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen’s statements and a public apology from the PSL administration.
In addition, the notice also threatened to terminate the contract with the franchise and blacklist Ali Tareen.
However, Multan Sultans have responded to the PCB’s notice.
Multan Sultans issued a statement on social media expressing regret over the PCB’s notice.
Multan Sultans’ statement said that whatever statement Ali Tareen has made has been made in the best interest of the PSL. He has taken valuable steps for the betterment of cricket and young cricketers from the Multan Sultans platform, including the establishment of academies.
According to Multan Sultans, Ali Tareen has invested billions of rupees in Multan Sultans and has personally incurred a loss of Rs 7 billion.
The statement issued by Multan Sultans further said that considering constructive criticism as a crime is incomprehensible, it shows the weakness of the PSL administration. It seems that the PSL administration is not ready to listen to questions and answer them.
