RAWALPINDI: An employee of the Commerce Ministry was taken into custody for allegedly selling honourary tickets for the Pakistan-New Zealand T20I  match illegally.

The accused, Zulfiqar Ahmed, was selling the tickets for the cricket match in front of the Kidney Center in the garrison city which has hosted third T20Is of the five-match series.

A case has been filed against the Commerce Ministry employee in response to Detective Foot Constable (DFC) Atif Qayyum’s allegation.

According to reports, the culprit was charging Rs 1,000 for each honorary ticket. The defendant acknowledged that he got the tickets from the Commerce Ministry’s administrative office.

In the third T20I match played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by seven wickets thanks to an undefeated half-century from Mark Chapman. The victory brings the five Twenty20 Internationals to a 1-1 draw. The next two games are slated to take place in Lahore on April 25 and 27, respectively.

The first T20I of the series on Thursday was abandoned due to rain, while Pakistan won the second T20I at the same venue last night by seven wickets.
