Pak vs UAE: Green Shirts to face host team in Sharjah today

DUBAI: The Pakistan cricket team is set to face the United ARab Emirates (UAE) in the fifth match of the tri-series today.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are in first and second position, respectively, with four points each in the ongoing tri-series in Sharjah.

Pakistan needs a mandatory victory today to secure a place in the final. In case of defeat, they will have to rely on the match between Afghanistan and the UAE tomorrow.

The UAE team will try its luck today in search of its first victory. The UAE will have to win both its matches by a good margin to reach the final.

It should be noted that the final of the tri-series will be played on September 7.

Earlier, Afghanistan defeated Pakistan by 18 runs in the fourth match of the tri-nation T20 series.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat against Pakistan in the match played in Sharjah.

Afghanistan, playing first, scored 169 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Ibrahim Zadran scored 65 and Siddiqullah scored 64 runs. Faheem Ashraf dismissed 4 players, and Saim Ayub took one wicket for 18 runs in 4 overs.

While chasing the target of 170 runs, the Pakistan team could score 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

Haris Rauf scored 34, Fakhar Zaman scored 25, Salman Agha scored 20, and Sahibzada Farhan scored 18 runs.

Fazal Haq Farooqi, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Noor Ahmed took 2 wickets each.

Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 39 runs in the first T20 match of the tri-nation series.
