Pakistan beats Australia, reaches Honk Kong Sixes final

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan qualified for the final by defeating Australia by one run in the first semi-final of the Hong Kong Sixes.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 121 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted 6 overs. Chasing 122 runs, Australia could score 120 runs.

Khawaja Nafie scored 50 and Abdul Asmad scored 34 runs for Pakistan. Abdul Samad scored 34 runs off 13 balls while captain Abbas Afridi played an aggressive innings of 19 runs off just five balls.

Captain Alex Ross scored 36 runs off 8 balls for Australia. But in the last moments, Pakistan’s fielders and bowlers made a brilliant comeback and took the match.

Abbas Afridi and Mohammad Shahzad took one wicket each for Pakistan, while Shahid Aziz also led a player to the pavilion at a crucial moment.

The match was decided on the last ball, when Australia needed two runs to win, but the victory went to Pakistan in the form of a run-out on a measured delivery from a Pakistani bowler.
