Pakistan forwards initial squad list for T20 World Cup

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted the names of the preliminary squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The names of the reserve players have also been sent to the ICC along with the preliminary 15-member squad.

According to media reports, the PCB has submitted the names on time as per the deadline for the preliminary squad names.

The PCB can make changes to the squad without the permission of the ICC till January 31, after which the approval of the ICC Technical Committee will be required for any changes in the team.

The preliminary squad includes the names of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf, who have been included in the list of players selected for the Sri Lanka tour.

The PCB intends to announce the final squad for the World Cup and the series against Australia after evaluating the performance of one or two players in the series against Sri Lanka.

The ICC T20 World Cup is starting from February 7 in India and Sri Lanka, and all of Pakistan’s matches will be played in Sri Lanka.
