LAHORE: In a fitting tribute, the Pakistan Navy will be honoured in a grand ceremony during the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) final tonight. The recognition celebrates the Navy’s pivotal role in Operation Banyan Marsus, where it proved to be an unbreakable steel wall in the face of adversity.
The tribute comes in response to the barbaric acts perpetrated by India against Pakistani citizens under the cover of darkness, which provoked Pakistan’s defensive response in the form of Operation Banyan Marsus. The operation, launched in the early hours of May 2025, was a direct response to the aggression imposed by India from May 6 to 10. The Pakistan Navy, though operating quietly, played a decisive and resilient role in securing the country’s maritime borders.
The PSL finale ceremony will be attended by prominent figures including President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, who will pay tribute to the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Navy to national security.
During Operation Bunyan Mars, the Pakistan Navy’s naval defences proved to be an insurmountable obstacle, preventing the Indian naval forces from making any progress. Despite their efforts, the Indian Navy did not have the courage to launch any attack, thereby protecting Pakistan’s coastal cities and assets.
The ‘steel wall’ of Pakistan Navy’s defensive operations at sea is now written in history as a symbol of courage and strength. The Navy’s performance during the operation remains a turning point in Pakistan’s military history, ensuring the security of Pakistan’s strategic assets along its coastline.
