Pakistan’s Babar Azam named in ICC T20I Team of the Year 2024

DUBAI: Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has been named in the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year for 2024 for his stellar performances last year.

The ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year recognises the best of the best who have impressed the world with their match-winning performances and made 2024 a memorable year in the shortest format, the ICC said in a statement.

Known for his beautiful stroke play and unparalleled consistency, Babar Azam once again provided stability to a dynamic batting line-up as he paced Pakistan’s innings.

The right-handed batsman started his year in impressive fashion, scoring three consecutive half-centuries away from home against New Zealand.

The 30-year-old’s ability to perform under pressure and his consistency across formats have cemented his status as one of the best in international cricket, earning him the sixth spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings for Batsmen.

The members of the team include Rohit Sharma (India), Travis Head (Australia), Phil Salt (England), Nicholas Pooran (West Indies), Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe), Hardik Pandya (India), Rashid Khan (Afghanistan), Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka), Jasprit Bumrah (India), and Arshdeep Singh (India).
