PCB to announce national team squad for Sri Lanka tour

LAHORE: The national team squad for the Sri Lanka tour in the first week of January is expected to be announced soon.

According to details, T20 matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled for January 7, 9 and 11 in Dambulla, for which the selectors have started consultations on the selection of players.

Shadab Khan, who performed well in the Big Bash League after recovering from fitness problems, will get a chance in the series against Sri Lanka.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, and Hasan Ali have been given NOCs for the full matches of the Big Bash League, and other young performers, including Abdul Samad and Maaz Sadaqat, are being considered in their place for this tour.

The PCB has also been sent a list of initial names for the T20 World Cup before January 6, which can be changed by February 1.

It should be noted that India and Sri Lanka have announced their teams for the World Cup.
