PM Shehbaz announces reward for Pakistan Hockey Team

ISLAMABAD: Shehbaz Sharif has announced a reward of Rs1.5 million for each player of the Pakistan national field hockey team following their impressive performance in the World Cup Qualifier.

The team returned home after competing in the qualifier held in Egypt, where they secured qualification for the upcoming Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup.

The players received a warm welcome at Islamabad International Airport, where officials from the Pakistan Hockey Federation and the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination greeted them with bouquets and flowers.

President of the federation Mohiuddin Wani also met the players and praised their performance, emphasizing the need for thorough preparation for upcoming international competitions.

He said the team must prepare strongly for both the FIH Pro League and the World Cup.

Pakistan has qualified for the Hockey World Cup after an eight-year gap. The tournament will begin on August 14 in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Before the World Cup, Pakistan will face Belgium, Spain, India and England in Pro League matches as part of its preparation.
