ISLAMABAD: South African batsman Tazmin Brits sets new world record in ICC Women’s World Cup.

South Africa defeated New Zealand by 6 wickets in the ICC Women’s World Cup on Monday.

In the match played in Indore, New Zealand batted first and were dismissed for 231 runs in the 48th over.

For the Kiwis, Sophie Devine played an innings of 85 runs with the help of 9 fours, Brooke Halliday scored 45 runs.

In reply, the South African women’s team achieved the target for the loss of 4 wickets in the 41st over thanks to the brilliant batting of Tazmin Brits and Sonny Luce.

South African batsman Tazmin played an innings of 101 runs with the help of 15 fours and a six, Sonny Luce remained not out on 83 runs.

Thanks to this century, South Africa’s Tazmin Brits also set a new world record. She became the player with the most ODI centuries in a calendar year in women’s cricket.

In the ICC World Cup, Tazmin Brits scored her fifth ODI century of 2025 against New Zealand, while it was her seventh century of her ODI career.

Previously, the record for the most centuries in a calendar year in One Day Internationals was held by India’s Smriti Mandhana, who scored 4 centuries in 2024 and then this year.
