CALIFORNIA: Apple plans to transform Siri into a full-fledged AI chatbot to compete with OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and xAI. The company is developing the project, codenamed Campos, to bring AI-powered Siri to iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
Apple plans to introduce chatbot-style Siri in iOS 27, which will bring major AI advancements to users this fall.
Users will control it through voice and text commands. The upgraded assistant will handle back-and-forth conversations, generate images, analyze on-screen content and Photos, improve web search, and answer natural-language queries using on-device information.
Apple to Turn Siri Into AI Chatbot Powered by Google’s Gemini. Google provides the AI model, which performs similarly to Gemini 3. Apple will introduce some features this spring through iOS 26.4, while the complete chatbot will be available with iOS 27. Apple executive Craig Federighi said last year that a bolt-on chatbot did not align with the company’s AI strategy.
