KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi has announced new customs values for the import of 62 types of used and old branded mobile phones.
The move aims to align import duties and taxes with the prices prevailing in the global market.
In this regard, the Directorate has issued Valuation Rolling No. 2035 of 2026. The new values will be applicable to used mobile phones imported on commercial basis without packaging and accessories. These include brands like Apple, Samsung, Google Pixel and OnePlus.
Officials say that the previous valuation rolling was more than a year and a half old and did not reflect the current conditions in the global market. During this time, many new smartphone models had come into the market while the old models had completed their useful life. Due to this, the change in depreciation became necessary.
The customs authorities have initiated a new valuation process under sections 25 and 25A of the Customs Act, 1969. Under the new rules, customs duties and other taxes will be levied as per the prescribed values, irrespective of the condition or grade of the mobile phones.
As per the rules, imported used phones must be activated at least six months before being exported to Pakistan. Importers will have to disclose the activation period, which will be verified by the concerned cessing officers.
This move will help in bringing transparency for importers and aligning customs claims with global standards.
