Govt sets up Pakistan Digital Authority with Dr. Sohail as Chairman

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has approved the names for the chairman and member of the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) following its formal establishment.

Dr. Sohail Munir and Muhammad J Sear have been appointed as Chairperson and Member PDA, respectively, under the Ministry of IT and Telecom.

Both appointments are made on a contract basis for five years.  The Cabinet Division has issued the notification of appointment.

Minister for IT Shaza Fatima chaired the search committee, which was tasked with identifying and recommending qualified professionals for the key roles.

Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of State for Railways, Minister of State for Finance, along with the secretaries of establishment, cabinet, and IT & telecom divisions, as well as Salman Akhtar, member of the Pakistan Revenue Automation Ltd (PRAL) Board, were among the other members.

The National Digital Master Plan, which will act as the guide for Pakistan’s digital transformation, has been given to the PDA to create, carry out, and oversee.

To guarantee openness and efficient execution, the authority would also create a framework for monitoring and assessing digital initiatives nationwide.
