ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced to provide 700,000 Chromebooks to students across Pakistan to promote digital education.
Addressing a ceremony held in Islamabad, Prime Minister’s Youth Program Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said that the aim of this initiative is to provide modern educational facilities to students and adapt them to the requirements of the digital age.
According to Rana Mashhood, students will be able to get better access to online education, digital educational materials and modern software through Chromebooks. Students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also benefit under the project.
Rana Mashhood said that this project has been designed for students of schools, colleges and universities to improve the quality of education and prepare students for future challenges. The Chromebooks will be provided with the support of TIF Foundation Lahore.
The Prime Minister’s Youth Program Chairman added that the distribution of the devices will be done in a phased and transparent manner, while a national monitoring system will also be introduced to assess the effective use of Chromebooks and educational outcomes.
According to officials, the project will help reduce the educational gap between urban and rural areas and will be a significant step towards providing equal educational opportunities to students across the country.
