CALIFORNIA: WhatsApp is giving this old feature a new life once again, and the original About Notes are being made a part of the messaging platform once again.
A decade ago, WhatsApp users used to share updates about themselves through simple text statuses and later this feature was changed to the About section.
But now this feature has been given a modern look.
In a blog post by the company, it was said that through these notes, users will be able to share short updates with friends and contacts that will be automatically deleted after 24 hours. This change aims to make the About section more useful.
In this way, users will be able to inform friends or contacts about their availability or mood through these notes without sharing photos or videos.
This option will prove to be very useful when you want to inform contacts that you are busy or unavailable for chats.
However, a major change to About will be its new position, which will be pinned to the top of one-on-one chats while being displayed prominently on user profiles.
Users will be able to react by clicking on a person’s About and, like Instagram notes, these written updates will disappear after 24 hours.
However, users will be able to make it disappear at any time within 24 hours through settings.
Users will also be able to limit these notes to specific contacts, the option of which will be available to them.
According to the company, this new feature has started to be introduced worldwide and will be available to you in the coming days.
Whenever it is available, to use this feature, you will have to click on Set About in WhatsApp settings.
