ISLAMABAD: The mobile users in Pakistan express their dissatisfaction because of reports that Jazz increased mobile package costs without delivering better service.
The situation has started a discussion about how transparent pricing should be and how well regulators should monitor the industry. The consumers assert that both call, SMS, and internet bundles became more expensive over time, while actual service performance, data reliability, and customer support stayed the same.
The users from Pakistan’s telecom sector report subscription problems, which include automatic deductions together with uncertain package activation and subscription fees that appear without warning.
The complaints come at a time when telecom operators face investigation because they have conducted multiple tariff changes.
Reports from industry watchers and media investigations show that mobile packages in Pakistan have experienced substantial cumulative price increases during the past few years.
These packages show price hikes between 20 to 50 percent, which depend on the chosen usage plan and service provider. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has recently intervened in the sector by introducing more stringent regulations through the Mobile Tariff Regulations 2025.
The new regulations ban telecom operators from raising prices each month, while they must wait for three months before increasing charges, which requires official permission.
