ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is on the cusp of a major milestone in its space technology journey, as it prepares to launch its indigenous Electro-Optical (EO-1) Satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in China tomorrow.
Pakistan will launch its state-of-the-art Electro-Optical (EO-1) Satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in China.
The satellite is developed by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and is going to bring about a real change in the country’s ability for natural resource monitoring and management, disaster preparedness and response, as well as economic development through informed decision-making with sustainable development.
The EO-1 satellite is poised to have a major influence on agriculture and allow the monitoring of crops, irrigation requirements assessment, and prediction of yield in this area in supports of food security initiatives.
In urban development, it will allow infrastructure expansion monitoring, urban sprawl control, and support for city and regional planning activities.
In addition, it will provide monitoring of environmental calamities, including floods, landslides, and earthquakes, and land erosion, and deforestation.
