WhatsApp introduces Guest Chat for non-users

ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp is adding a feature that was not part of the popular messaging platform until now.

WhatsApp is making it easier to chat with people who do not use the platform.

A feature called Guest Chat has been added to the Meta-owned messaging platform.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, this feature has been introduced for some beta users on Android and iOS devices.

According to the report, this option has been introduced for limited users and with its help, a shareable invite link can be created within WhatsApp.

This option will be available in the Invite a Friend section or under your contact list to start a guest chat.

When a person receives the guest chat link and opens it on their phone or desktop browser, they will be able to become part of the temporary conversation.

The person’s profile will appear as a guest within the chat to make it clear that they are not a registered WhatsApp user.

WhatsApp will provide end-to-end encryption protection to all chats, so messages will remain secure.

Since the guest user will not have a WhatsApp account, they will not be able to be identified like a normal WhatsApp user when they join the chat.

This means that anyone who has access to the invite link can become a part of the chat, so you have to share these links carefully.

Limited features will be available to guest users, such as they cannot become part of groups, cannot share media files such as photos, videos, documents and stickers, etc., and voice or video calls are also not possible.

The purpose of guest chat is to provide temporary connectivity and the link will automatically expire if there is no chat for 10 days.

This feature is currently available to limited users, so it is difficult to say when it will be rolled out to all users.
