YouTube has announced significant changes to its monetization policies from July 15 for content creators around the world.
The changes are aimed at making it impossible to earn income from substandard content, repetitive videos, and videos generated with artificial intelligence (AI), while encouraging original and creative videos.
The YouTube Partner Program (YPP) will be updated on July 15, and detailed guidelines will be released, which will explain what kind of content users will be able to earn money from and which videos will not be able to earn income.
Details about the new policies are not yet available, but the YouTube page explains that users will always be required to upload original and verified content.
The page further states that the new policies will help users understand what content is now inauthentic.
Some users are concerned that this could affect their earnings from different types of videos, such as reaction videos.
But YouTube official Rene Ritchie said that this will not be the case.
He said that these changes will be like minor updates to the YPP policies and are aimed at identifying substandard content.
He said that the type of content that is not monetizable has not been eligible for monetization under YPP policies for years.
But he did not bother to explain that such videos have now become much easier to produce.
Thanks to advances in AI technology, the number of AI-generated videos on YouTube is increasing, and the company is primarily using the substandard label for AI videos.
The situation in this regard will be clear on July 15 when the policy guidelines are officially released.
