According to reports, mobile services have been suspended in some areas of Hangu, Kurram and Orakzai due to the law-and-order situation emerging in the area.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mianwali imposed Section 144 after receiving a report from the District Police Officer (DPO) about a “serious security threat to the district”.

According to a notification issued by the DC’s office, the presence of terrorists was noted in the border area with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), who had earlier attacked Police Station Makarwal, Check Post Qabo Khel, Haroon Shaheed PHP Post Kundal, and PAF Base Mianwali. In the recent past,

The Kurram tragedy has spread fear across the country, with the death toll reaching 39, according to police.

KP government spokesman Barrister Dr Saif, while providing details to the media on Thursday, said that the incident took place when a convoy of at least 200 passenger vans was passing through the Ouchat area of Lower Kurram.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the firing incident, telling the media that at least 38 people were killed and several others injured in the attack on Thursday.

The convoy of 200 passenger vans was escorted by police. According to Dr Saif, the attackers first targeted police personnel before opening fire on the convoy from both sides.

The attackers allegedly targeted members of the Shia community, as Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud told media that the convoy belonged to the same community. “Women and children took refuge in local homes, and we are currently searching the area for the attackers.”
