Section 144 imposed in Rawalpindi amid PTI protest

RAWALPINDI: To maintain law and order situations ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) protest Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema has imposed section 144 with the Rawalpindi effective till November 26, 2024.

The decision was taken during an intelligence committee meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner while discussing the potential unrest near the Adiala Jail.

According to the sources, the DC issued an official notification imposing Section 144 which aims to maintain peace and to ensure public safety.

According to the notification, public gatherings, rallies, and assemblies of more than four people will be prohibited till the effective date.

All of these strict measures are taken before Imran Khan’s call for the final protest. Earlier, the founder of PTI Imran Khan received bail in the Toshakhana II case however he is currently incarcerated in more than 63 cases.

The nationwide protest will be staged on November 24, 2024.
