ISLAMABAD: The administration has imposed Section 144 in the federal capital and banned all kinds of political and religious gatherings.
The Deputy Commissioner has issued a notification saying that there will be a complete ban on holding political and religious gatherings.
The notification further states that legal action will be taken against those violating Section 144 in the capital.
The decision comes at a time when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced to hold a major protest rally in Islamabad on November 24 (Sunday).
The rally aims to record its protest against the recently passed 26th Constitutional Amendment, raise voice for judicial independence and urge the government to release political prisoners including Imran Khan.
Meanwhile, PTI leaders have reiterated their resolve to hold a peaceful political rally, adding that the government should stay away from creating obstacles.
Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan claimed that the former prime minister had given a final call for the November 24 protest, after which preparations for the rally began.
She said that the protest would continue until her demands were met.
Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Advisor Barrister Saif had termed the protest as a final and decisive move by the PTI.
On the other hand, the PTI founder said in a social media message that participation in the protest rally would determine who would remain in the party.
