PML-Q removed Chaudhry Shujaat as party president

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) on Thursday removed Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain from the post of party president. The party also removed Tariq Bashir Cheema from the post of General Secretary. According to the media reports, a meeting of the PML-Q central working committee was held, which was chaired by Senator Kamil Ali Agha. For inter-party elections, a 5-member Election Commission was established. While Jahangir A Joja will be the Election Commissioner. As PML (Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi have decided to part ways over political differences. Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi is a supporter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf while Chaudhry Shujaat wants to support Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. Chaudhry Shujaat wants to see his children with PML-N in future. Meanwhile, Pervaiz Elahi’s son Moonis Elahi is eyeing his political future with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain born 27 January 1946 is a senior Pakistani politician from a Punjabi Jatt family of Gujrat who previously served as 16th prime minister of Pakistan from 30 June 2004 on a temporary basis during a transitional period to accommodate Shaukat Aziz till 23 August 2004. Hussain has been party president of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) since 2003, when he had followed party founder Mian Muhammad Azhar because of his lack of a parliamentary seat.
