We didn’t do wrong, it was just great batting: Tait defends Pak bowlers. After Pakistan bowlers failed to defend the total of 170 runs in the third match against England on Friday, Pakistan fast bowling coach Shaun Tait reckoned that his team’s bowlers were put under the pump after the England openers, Alex Hales and Phil Salt, came out all guns blazing in the sixth T20I on Friday, September 30 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Hales and Salt put on 55 for the opening wicket in 3.5 overs and made England firm favourites to win the match. In the end, the Three Lions romped home with 33 balls to spare. Most importantly, the visitors made it 3-3 in the ongoing seven-match series.

Tait reckoned that Pakistan bowlers could have bowled tighter lines, but also said that T20 is a format of frequent ups and downs.

“They just attacked us. They came out attacking, every ball they tried to hit a boundary. It worked for the first three overs and, in some way, it put our bowlers off guard a little bit. We didn’t do a lot wrong and it was just great batting. Sometimes you have got to give it to the batting team,” Tait said in the post-match press conference.

“We could have bowled a bit tighter, we were a little bit loose. But it happens in T20 cricket. As you are seeing in this series, it’s up and down, so I can say anything and it doesn’t really matter,” he stated.

“We can come back in the next game, hopefully bowl well and win the match, but it’s been a great series. We bowled well at times, sometimes we haven’t,” Tait added.

The seventh and final match of the series is set to be held on Sunday, October 2 in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
