Cold, dry weather expected across country in next 12 hours

ISLAMABAD: According to the Meteorological Department, cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during the next 12 hours, while the weather will remain very cold in the hilly areas.

There is a possibility of moderate to dense fog in the plains of Punjab, Upper Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which may cause problems during traffic and travel.

The temperature in Islamabad was recorded as 3, Lahore as 5, Karachi as 9, Peshawar as 4, Quetta as 0, Gilgit as minus 4, Murree as zero, and Muzaffarabad as two degrees Celsius.

In the areas of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, cloudy and extremely cold weather is expected in Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla, while partly cloudy and cold weather is expected in Jammu.

Minus three was recorded in Srinagar, Pulwama and Anantnag, four in Jammu, minus nine in Leh, while minus two degrees Celsius was recorded in Shopian and Baramulla.

The Meteorological Department has directed the citizens to take precautionary measures during cold weather and fog.
