KARACHI: The alarm bell has sounded again for the residents of the port city, as the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain and gusty winds in Karachi from this afternoon.
According to the Meteorological Department, the low-pressure area is still active today, and thunderstorms, wind, and heavy rain are expected across Sindh, especially Karachi, from the afternoon to evening and night.
Meteorological Department spokesperson Anjum Nazir Zeigham said that, there may be more heavy rain across the city today than yesterday, resulting in the possibility of urban flooding.
Another monsoon series will affect Karachi and rural Sindh on August 27, he added.
Chief Meteorologist Karachi Ameer Haider Leghari said that there is also a circulation of winds around the rain system, so stronger winds may blow in Karachi during the rain.

According to the Chief Meteorologist, the weather in the city will be completely cloudy on Friday and Saturday, while it may be partly cloudy on Sunday and Monday. Due to the effects of the monsoon system, the weather is expected to remain moderate for the next few days.
Talking about the temperature, today the minimum temperature was 28 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is likely to go up to 31 degrees Celsius, but the intensity of the fog and humidity is causing great anxiety to the people.
