PMD forecasts heavy rain and strong winds nationwide

ISLAMABAD: An alert has been issued for the forecast of stormy winds and thunderstorms across the country.

According to the details, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds in all four provinces of the country, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In view of the weather situation, the National Disaster Management Authority has issued a regular alert and directed the citizens to take precautionary measures.

Thunderstorms are expected in Lahore, Mianwali, Khushab, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot and Hafizabad, while clouds will fall in the provincial capital Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Dadu, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur and Ghotki.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, DI Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Karak, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Swat, Dir, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Buner, Mohmand, Khyber, and Waziristan are likely to experience rain with strong winds.

In addition, rain has been predicted in the districts of Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Nagar, Diamer, Astore, Ghanche, Shigar, and Kharmang.

The NDMA said that there is a possibility of slippery roads, reduced visibility, and disruption of the power system during the next 12 hours due to strong winds and rain.

The administration has urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from weak infrastructure (kutcha houses and signboards).
