Met Department forecasts gusty winds, thunderstorms across country

KARACHI: The Meteorological Department (Met Dept) has predicted rains with gusty winds and thunderstorms in the country in a few days.

According to the Met Dept, humid winds from the Arabian Sea are continuously entering the upper and central regions, and the intensity of these winds is likely to increase further on Saturday and Sunday.

The Department said that a series of westerly winds will enter the upper regions of the country on Monday. Winds and thunderstorms are likely to occur in Kashmir from July 18 to 25, while thunderstorms are also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan from July 18 to 25.

As per the dept, rain is likely in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from July 19 to 23.

Winds and rains are also possible in various cities of Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree and Lahore, while rain has been predicted in Zhob, Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibi and Ziarat.

In addition, there is a risk of landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Gilgit, and Kashmir from July 20 to 25.

On the other hand, the weather is likely to remain hot and humid in most parts of Sindh; however, rain is expected in Tharparkar, Mithi, Sukkur, Larkana, and Jacobabad from July 20 to 22.

The weather is likely to remain hot and humid in most parts of Sindh today. There may be partial cloudiness and drizzle on the coastal belt of Sindh, including Karachi, for the next 3 days, while strong winds are also likely in Karachi on Saturday and Sunday.
