ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning to all residents in north-east Punjab to maintain their alertness because a strong weather system will bring severe weather conditions to multiple districts during the next few days.

The authorities anticipate that the situation will grow worse from May 11 until May 13, when the province will experience its most dangerous weather conditions, which include severe storms, heavy rain, and hazardous winds.

The Met Office has forecast that heavy rain and strong winds will start today and last through May 13. The officials reported that a “super cell” weather system will probably form throughout various regions of Punjab during this time, which creates worries about potential extreme weather events.

The department predicted that thunderstorms would develop across Lahore, Kasur, Pattoki, Sheikhupura, Okara, Narowal, Sialkot, and Gujranwala, while specific regions would experience intense rainfall.

Weather experts issued an additional warning, which stated that certain areas would face the risk of hailstorms and lightning strikes throughout the duration of the spell.

They stated that powerful winds would destroy weak constructions and create dangerous conditions for people. The affected districts have activated their complete emergency response system because of the forecasted severe weather conditions.

The authorities have warned people to stay indoors during the extreme weather conditions, and they must observe safety measures throughout this dangerous period.
