ISLAMABAD: The powerful spell of monsoon across the country has wreaked havoc in different areas, where 9 people lost their lives in various accidents caused by rain, wind and flash floods, while many others were injured.
The Meteorological Department has also predicted thunderstorms in many areas today and has directed citizens to exercise caution.
According to reports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Punjab were the worst affected by the monsoon rains. A woman and two children died in various incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while three people lost their lives when a house and wall collapsed during torrential rains in Attock district of Punjab.
Three people, including a woman and children, died and 10 others were injured when houses collapsed due to heavy rains in Zhob area of Balochistan. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are being provided medical assistance.
On the other hand, intermittent sunshine and clouds continue in Lahore and Islamabad, while rain is expected today as well. In Karachi, citizens are also waiting for heavy rain, while according to the Meteorological Department, more rains with thunder are expected in different areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The rains have been predicted to continue for the next two to three days.
