Weather Update: Met dept predicts rain, snowfall across country

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert predicting rain and snowfall in different parts of the country.

According to the alert issued by the Meteorological Department, rain and snowfall are expected in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir during January 30 and 31.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that the intensity of cold is likely to increase in most parts of the country between February 1 and 3.

It was further informed that rain and snowfall may occur in Quetta, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Noshki and Chaman and snowfall in the mountains.

The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of severe cold and snowfall in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Due to snowfall, there is a risk of slippage on roads and landslides in mountainous areas.

The Meteorological Department has directed those traveling in the upper areas to take precautionary measures.

The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of increased fog and reduced visibility due to the cold weather, and also directed the relevant agencies to remain alert to deal with any emergency situation.
