KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says there’s likely to be a sharp rise in temperatures across Sindh, and a pretty intense heatwave may hit the province over the next week or so, like during the coming days.

As per the Met Office, the readings in Sindh could go up by as much as 6°C, meaning they may sit well above normal between May 25 and May 31. Several districts, mainly in inland Sindh, might even see the mercury touching 50°C within that time frame.

Meteorologists also noted that most places in interior Sindh will probably stay under harsh heat conditions. People were advised to steer clear of unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, especially citizens, farmers, and older adults, who are at higher risk.

This warning is coming while Sindh is bracing for another tough bout of warm weather, which can make daily life hard for people doing outdoor work, agricultural communities, and other vulnerable groups.

At the same time, the rain system is still active in Punjab, where it’s staying hot in Lahore as well. The weather department reported that Lahore is still dealing with intense heat, but dusty winds along with light rain may occur in the provincial capital and parts nearby.

Weather experts added that strong winds could sweep through Lahore in the afternoon and evening, and light rain is possible in some areas. For Lahore, the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 27°C, while the maximum could climb up to about 40°C.
