RIYADH: The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced a public holiday on Saturday, February 22, in honor of the establishment of the First Saudi State by Imam Mohammed bin Saud in 1727.

This commemoration embraces a history of great significance to the Kingdom as it celebrates the roots of Saudi heritage, national unity, and the long-standing bond of loyalty between its rulers and subjects.

The Founding Day underlines early Saudi efforts to close the doors of security and stability after centuries of torn divisions that led the Kingdom from the First Saudi State to the unification of Saudi Arabia under King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman.

Under the guidance of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia is fortifying its regional and international standing by strides into various sectors while preserving its cultural heritage and national identity.

Cultural and artistic events are expected to be held in cities across the Kingdom to celebrate Saudi history and traditions. Such activities will illustrate the rocky yet illustrious journey of the nation through the challenges to the heights of prosperity representing the strong resilience and dignity of the people.

Founding Day is a period for remembrance and commemoration of 300 years of history, through traditional costumes, meals, entertainment, air shows, etc., with the day off aimed at cherishing the deep roots of the Saudi State and the stabilizing security and cohesiveness nurtured by the Saudi State.
