PESHAWAR: Thousands of government employees from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are set to visit Islamabad today to participate in a sit-in against pension reforms, with all preparations completed.
A large convoy of employees from Mardan, led by Aurangzeb Kashmiri, Central Secretary General of All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), departed from Mardan Railway Station at 10 AM.
The sit-in, which will take place outside Parliament House, will continue until the employees’ demands are met.
According to Aurangzeb Kashmiri, the federal government must stop the economic massacre of employees under the guise of pension reforms. He emphasized that the employees are not afraid of tear gas shelling or arrests and will fight for their rights until the very end.
Kashmiri also condemned the corrupt rulers of the federal government for reducing pension commutation and issuing notifications for the privatization of profitable institutions, which he believes is effectively “burying government employees alive”.
The employees are determined to snatch their rights rather than beg for them, and their sit-in is a testament to their resolve to fight against the government’s policies.
