ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms in some parts of the country.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that a severe heat wave will continue in most parts of the country and has warned that the temperature in the plain districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may reach 46 to 47 degrees Celsius during the next 48 hours, while thundershowers are also likely in some mountainous areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Peshawar today is expected to be 44 and the minimum is expected to be 38 degrees Celsius, while the humidity in the air in the city has decreased to 30 percent, due to which the intensity of the heat is being felt even more.
The weather is likely to remain hotter in Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Charsadda, Mardan and other plain areas during the next 24 hours, while dusty winds are predicted in Charsadda, Mardan, Kohat and Bannu during the evening hours today.
On the other hand, thundershowers are expected in the upper districts including Swat, Dir, Kohistan and Shangla during the next 24 hours, which is likely to make the weather relatively pleasant in these areas.
The weather will also remain dry and extremely hot in most districts of Balochistan. The maximum temperature in Quetta was recorded at 40, in Kalat 35, in Ziarat 30, in Zhob 39, in Sibi 47, in Turbat 40, in Nokundi 48 and in Chaman 41 degrees Celsius, while the coastal areas of Gwadar and Jiwani recorded temperatures of 33 and 34 degrees Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, the heat wave is likely to continue in Lahore, where the maximum temperature may reach 42 degrees Celsius today. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the city will remain hot and dry for the next twelve hours.
The Meteorological Department has directed citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during the intense heat, consume more water and take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the possible effects of the heatwave.
