Indian govt reopens 32 airport after ceasefire

NEW DELHI: The Aviation Authority of India (AAI)  has announced the reopening of 32 airports after the ceasefire between the two countries, reports Reuters

The 32 airports are now fully functional for the flight operation with immediate effect, the authority said in a statement. Pakistan’s airport authority fully reopened its airspace on Saturday.

Earlier, The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the concerned aviation authorities have issued several notices, in which 32 airports in North and West India have been announced to be temporarily closed till May 14, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

As per the orders of the Indian government, the airports of Udhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipora, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindan, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gugal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kilomanali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsava, Shimla, Srinagar, Thois, Uttarlai will remain closed.

The notification states that all civil flight activities at these airports will remain suspended till May 14.
