International Community asks for de-escalation amid rising situation

ISLAMABAD: After Pakistan’s befitting response to Indian aggression, the world community has urged both countries to de-escalate the situation and show restraint.

United States offers assistance

Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and  COAS General Asim Munir today. He continued to urge both parties to find ways to de-escalate and offered U.S. assistance in starting constructive talks in order to avoid future conflicts.

The US Secretary of State, who also spoke with Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, called for the re-establishment of direct communication between the two countries to avoid miscalculation.

China asks for political communication

China firmly encouraged India and Pakistan on Saturday to act in the wider interest of peace and stability by returning to the path of political resolution via peaceful methods, state-run news agency APP reports.

“China is closely monitoring the ongoing situation between India and Pakistan and is deeply concerned about the escalation,” a Chinese foreign ministry official said following the sustained escalation between the two nations.

“We strongly urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, exercise calm and restraint, return to the track of political settlement through peaceful means, and refrain from any action that could further escalate tension,” the spokesperson said.

Saudi Arabia praises Pakistan’s measured response

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal Bin Farhan has phone calls with the Foreign Ministers of both countries and urges them to de-escalate the situation, according to a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“During the calls, discussions focused on efforts to de-escalate tensions and end ongoing military confrontations. His Highness affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to the security and stability of the region and its close and balanced relations with both friendly countries”. the statement reads

G7 urges dialogue amid rising tensions

The Group of Seven (G7) major countries urged India and Pakistan to engage in direct dialogue as hostilities rise between the nuclear-armed neighbors, while the U.S. government said it has offered assistance in starting “constructive talks.”

World powers have raised the alarm over the latest escalation in the decades-old India-Pakistan rivalry. India hit Pakistan with air strikes and missiles on Wednesday, while Pakistan retaliated strongly against the attacks, and since then, both countries have been clashing daily.
