BEIRUT: The series of Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon has intensified once again, where 4 people including the mayor of Al-Rayhan municipality were martyred as a result of drone and air strikes in different areas.
After the latest attacks, fear and panic have spread in the affected areas, while there are fears of further escalation in tensions.
According to the Lebanese official news agency, the Israeli army targeted Al-Rayhan and Kafrahana municipalities in the Jizan district with drone attacks. As a result of these attacks, four people including the mayor of Al-Rayhan municipality lost their lives. After the attacks, rescue teams started operations in the affected areas.
According to reports, the Israeli army also carried out air strikes on the town of Khayyam in the Marjayoun district, while reports of drone attacks were received in the Qaseiba area of the Nabatieh district.
In addition, Israeli artillery shelling was also carried out in the Majdal Zone area of the Tyre district, which is causing serious concern among the local population.
These attacks came at a time when the Israeli army had recently issued instructions to residents of 20 towns and villages in southern Lebanon to immediately evacuate their homes. Following these orders, many families have been forced to relocate to safer places.
On the other hand, preparations are also underway for the next phase of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, which are expected to take place in Washington on June 22.
