PYONGYANG: North Korea has confirmed a new cruise missile test, saying the country’s defense capabilities are being further strengthened.
According to the state news agency, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un supervised the missile test and stressed the need to modernize maritime defenses. He said that equipping naval destroyers with supersonic weapons is the need of the hour to make the maritime defense system more effective.
Kim Jong-un said that North Korea is continuously improving its military capabilities in view of the growing tension in the region. He expressed his determination to continue developing modern weapons to protect the country’s security and sovereignty.
On the other hand, North Korea, while making a statement regarding the election of the new Supreme Leader in Iran, said that the Iranian people have the full right to choose their leader and this decision should be respected, every country should have autonomy in choosing its political leadership and avoid external interference.
A spokesman for the North Korean Foreign Ministry has said that the election of a new leader by Iran’s Assembly of Experts is respected and it is the right of the Iranian people to decide on their own leadership.
The spokesman, calling the military attack on Iran by the US and Israel an “illegal aggression,” said that this action posed serious threats to regional peace and stability and increased global instability. It is unacceptable to undermine a country’s political sovereignty and territorial integrity and should be condemned by the entire world.
